My name is Richard Reeder and I am a literary enthusiast living in Skokie, Illinois. In December, 2010, I created the popular “Chicago Jewish Authors Literary Series” that meets at the iconic Max and Benny’s Restaurant and Deli in Northbrook, Illinois. I am an instructor in Humanities at the Emeritus program at Oakton Community College. I am a regular reviewer in the Noir Journal blog. I review books frequently on my blog, especially those with Chicago content, noir genre, and those which are nominated for the Booker Prize. My book, Chicago Sketches, was recently published.
I look forward to your meditations. I too am a Chicago enthusiast, and find inspiration from books but also from pounding the pavement, nort, sout, east ( 10th ward), and west.

Richard, I had no idea you were such a fine writer. We worked together (sort of) at MET (Mayor’s Office of Employment and Training) and I was delighted to read what you are doing. I would like to hear from you. I’ve been freelance writing since I left the dept.

Rich, Congrats on the new book, heard story with you on NPR the other day. Terrific! Gonna buy the book shortly. Kudos to life-after-MET-MOWD-workforce
Thanks Jeff for the kind words. Two of my sketches take place during the time of the old MET, before your time. They are Deli Man and the Lexington Hotel. Again thanks for listening and thanks for reading. All the best.
